Synthesis,Reactivity and Crystal Structure of a Novel Cluster [Co 3 (CO) 9 (μ 3 -C)C(O)OCH 2 ] 2 †

Abstract

The higher-nuclearity cluster compound [Co₃(CO)₉(μ₃-C)C(O)OCH₂]₂ 1 has been isolated from the reaction of [CI₃CC(O)OCH₂]₂ and Co₂(CO)₈, and its metal exchange reaction with Na[M(CO)₃{Sex⁵-C₅H₄C(O)C₆H₄C(O)OMe}] (M = Mo or W) has been discussed together with its structure determination by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods.
