Abstract
The parents and teachers of 10 severely handicapped children were surveyed concerning their expectations for the adult lives of the children. The children ranged in chronological age from 3 to 16 years and ranged in developmental age from 2 to 8 years. All of the children were visually impaired with at least one additional handicapping condition. A total of 10 parents and 10 teachers were surveyed In five areas: (1) education, (2) vocation, (3) living arrangement, (4) social life, and (5) potential income. Significant differences in expectations for the educational achievements of the children were observed between the parents and teachers.
