The use of angioplasty and intravascular stenting has been applied to a variety of arterial lesions including atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (RAS). The authors describe a patient with renovascular hypertension who underwent angioplasty and subsequent right renal artery stent placement for proximal RAS. Recurrent hypertension 4 months after the procedure led to arteriography that documented distal migration of the stent into the renal hilum and restenosis of the proximal vessel. Operative stent removal and revascularization was required to correct the problem.
