Since 1980 the authors have oper ated on 160 patients with venous in sufficiency. Surgical results of vein valve transplantation have been grat ifying with 75% having excellent re sults. Venous bypass for obstructive lesions have been associated with a high incidence of thrombosis. It is ap parent that a temporary arteriove nous fistula followed by long-term anticoagulant is necessary to achieve satisfactory results from autogenous vein bypass.
