Abstract
Although traumatic aneurysm of the abdominal aorta is rare, it can develop after severe trauma or crushing injury of the abdomen. A case report is presented of a 27-year-old woman who had a steering wheel injury to the abdomen and developed thrombosis of the distal abdominal aorta. After thrombectomy, she did well and was discharged from the hospital. Nearly eight months later, she developed aneurysm and stricture at the site of trauma in the abdominal aorta. The involved segment was resected and a tube graft interposed. The patient did well postoperatively and no longer complains of weakness of her lower extremities.
