Axillary artery damage from avulsion of the subscapular artery following erect dislocation of the shoulder—luxatio erecta—is described in an 11 year old child. Arterial repair was effected with an interposition vein graft. An associated brachial plexus injury was managed conservatively and it has now fully resolved. Luxatio erecta associated with vascular damage has been reported on at least two occasions in adults, but, as far as we can ascertain, not previously in childhood.
