Abstract
False aneurysm following carotid endarterectomy seldom occurs when the arteriotomy is closed primarily with durable polyester suture material. A case of pseudoaneurysm caused by infection is reported. The patient required re- exploration for acute hematoma postoperatively with insertion of a Penrose drain. Resection of the aneurysm and interposition of a saphenous vein graft resulted in no neurological complications.
