Pressures exerted by conventional instruments to control blood vessels during vascular procedures are frequently excessive and vary greatly from one type to another. Static pressure measurements on human arteries illustrate these factors. Consequent tissue damage may be a serious source of surgical failures. A new instrument is described which holds securely with minimal trauma.
