Abstract
The authors examined the effects of long-term statin use on carclovascular mortality in patients who underwent successful abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) surgen/. The study fo> lowed for 4.7 years 519 patients who survived AAA surgery. Patients were evaluated for the use statins. h-blockers, and din cal risk factors and their association with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Cardiovascular causes were responsible for 140 deaths n the 205 patients who died during followup. The nciderce of both all-cause and cardiovascular death vas lower in statan users. ji-Blocker use was also assodated with a reduction n all-cause and cardiovascular mortalrv The authors concluded that statin use was associated with a decrease in ai -cause and cardiovascular mortality.
