Abstract
Polypropylene fabric is replacing cotton in many applica tions, for example, carpet backing. Polypropylene yarns are produced from extruded sheet which is then split. The process is cheaper than hot melt spinning and has attracted a number of smaller firms Color soiling is a problem and care should be exercised in manufacturing polypropylene upholstery with too high a proportion of white yarns.
