With a background on effective team functioning serving as a conceptual framework, information on ways early intervention team members can improve their communication is provided. Qualities of effective teams and the roles members assume on teams is discussed. This article presents a step-by-step process for creating a transdisciplinary team. Specific information of interest to early intervention professionals on the necessary skills for successful communicative interaction is offered and behaviors that serve as barriers to team communication are outlined.
