Abstract
How does having a hearing impaired child change daily life in an otherwise hearing family? This ethnographic study focuses on one aspect of daily life, how mothers take theiryaung children out to run errands, get a bite to eat, etc. Both hearing and hearing impaired children were observed in various public settings with their mothers. Several recommendations about parent groups, resource information, day care, lessons, and hearing aids follow from our observations.
