Abstract
This article provides professionals in the field of communication disorders with both an historical overview of those events which led to establishing a Commission on Education of the Deaf as well as the recommendations that were stated by a thirteen member "blue ribbon"panel. Although the results of the Cammission's recommendations have yet to be developed and implemented into an acceptable plan for improvement, recent protests at Gallaudet University paired with regional meetings concerning the recommendations have rendered eager anticipation and hope of innovation in the field among professionals.
