Abstract
This paper presents a comparison of mothers limiting and true questions to developmentally delayed and nondelayed children, ages 2½·3 years and 4½·5 years. Mothers asked 4-year-old nondelayed children significantly more true questions than mothers asked 2-year-old nondelayed and 2- and 4-year-old delayed children. There was a significant interaction effect for mother's limiting questions. The trend was for mothers to decrease their limiting questions as the nondelayed children advanced in age, but to increase their limiting questions as the delayed children advanced in age.
