Abstract
Foamed composites are light weight, reinforced materials composed of matrix resins, blowing agents and reinforcing fibres.
This paper summarises the preparation, properties, and applications of hybrid foam composites.
The matrix resin was prepared by the simultaneous reactions of vinyl esterstyrene copolymerisation and polyol-polyisocyanate polyaddition reaction.
Foam composites have the following advantages such as: high mechanical strength/weight ratio, high nail withdrawal strength, low water absorption, corrosion, fungi and mildew resistance, good dimensional stability, availability in long size products with uniform quality, easy workability, good paintability and high electric insulation.
