Abstract
The utilisation of comminuted vulcanised rubber scrap as filler for thermoplastic compositions (in some cases with mineral fillers) was investigated. The structure of compositions and their use depends on the formulation and method of moulding. The more rubber scrap in the composition, the more porous the structure of articles obtained. The use of pressure methods of moulding of compositions (injection moulding, pressure moulding, extrusion with pressure calibration) produce either non-porous articles, or porous articles with a non-porous skin. The use of non-pressure method of moulding (extrusion without calibration) produces porous articles with open pores. The result of the investigation shows that the use of polyolefins and poly(vinyl chloride) (original or secondary) is profitable.
