International workshop: Health care provision for migrants: Comparing approaches to ethical challenges in Germany and the United Kingdom

Abstract

Between the 14 and 18 March 2016, the Institute for Ethics, History and Theory of Medicine, in cooperation with the Institute for Sociology at Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU), Munich, hosted an interdisciplinary workshop on migrant and refugee health in Germany and the UK. Fifteen participants from four countries met to discuss ethical issues surrounding the health of migrants and refugees in Europe, with particular emphasis on a comparison of the different approaches taken by Germany and the UK. This report provides an overview of the structure and purpose of the workshop, an outline of the topics discussed, its outcomes, and its objectives moving forward.
