Equations giving a practical design procedure are derived for illuminance on the floor and walls of atria. To develop them, exponential attenuation is compared with form-factor analysis and interreflection is determined with a cavity reflection method. The theoretical formulae are shown to be a fair fit to equations derived from measured data.
