Abstract
This paper deals with the main features of electroluminescence and emphasises aspects of particular interest to illuminating engineers. Following a brief account of earlier work, the design, construction and performance of practical electroluminescent light sources are described. Essential theoretical aspects are also mentioned.
Certain specialised applications of electroluminescence for photographic and other purposes are discussed. Reference is also made to possible future uses for this light source.
