Abstract
Visual conditions in the group of industries concerned with textile manufacture have been influenced considerably by developments in lamps, lighting equipment and lighting methods in post-war years. An attempt is made to assess the value of these changes to both management and workers.
Particular reference is made to the technical and economic factors involved in the use of fluorescent lighting, and an examination is made of the equipment available to meet the conditions found in the textile industries. Re-equipment and new building have created opportunities for the adoption of new lighting techniques and some installations involving novel methods of lay-out and control are reviewed.
Reference is also made to the latest applications of light sources for inspection and quality control.
