Abstract
This paper reviews typical problems arising in an Illumination Laboratory and the apparatus and techniques used in their solution. A distinction is drawn between the functions of Photometric and Illumination Laboratories. The appraisal of lighting equipment, lighting systems and the many testing procedures which are remote from formal photometry are discussed. The requirements of a building suitable for this type of work are also described.
