Abstract
Following an introductory section in which the derivation of the term “Gas Arc” is indicated, experimental electrical and luminous data on arc discharges through the gases xenon, krypton, argon, neon, and helium, are set out. This investigation has led to the production of a new form of xenon lamp, rated at 1 kw. The possibilities of operating high wattage high brightness sources are discussed, and applications for several types of gas arc discharge lamps are indicated.
