This paper describes the development of high-intensity flash discharge tubes capable of giving light flashes with an effective photographic duration of less than 1.5 microseconds, which can be used for photographing high-velocity shells by reflected light. The properties and the limitations of flash discharge tubes in single flash and in multiple flash applications are discussed.
