Abstract
This paper is written with the object of further advancing the establishment of basic requirements in regard to the adequate routine testing of night vision and of obtaining a more general appreciation of the factors concerned. Attempts at accuracy and reproducibility in testing have been as few as methods have been legion. The result has been a marked conflict of experimental evidence. It is felt, therefore, particularly in view of the increase in the number of workers in this field, that the essentials of an accurate instrument and technique should be considered.
