Based upon an extensive literature review, and personal experience of teaching in an international school in Germany, this article develops a model previously put forward for the conceptualization of an environment for learning in an institutional context, and specifically explores the role of host country nationals, as students and teachers, in supporting the promotion of international-mindedness. Suggestions for improvements in achieving the goals of international education in similar schools to that described are included.
