Abstract
The evolution of the Best Practice Tariff (BPT) for paediatric diabetes can help clinicians unlock funding for what are currently under-resourced services for childhood diabetes. To drive up the quality of care for children and young people with diabetes in the UK, the NHS must recognise the value of building robust data sets, and embrace technologies that enable such data to be shared and maximised across the system. Greater use of technologies that are developed in collaboration with clinicians to reflect and respond to real-world service needs can help create an invaluable evidence base for increased BPT funding – and in the process, drive improved patient outcomes in paediatric diabetes.
