The social responsibilities of the physician

Abstract

The 1997 Keynote Address for the White Coat Ceremony at St George's University School of Medicine indicates the importance of social medicine in the work of the physician and urges the students beginning the study of medicine to devote themselves to equitable provision of medical care, to prevention of disease and promotion of health, and to promotion of social well-being.
