Abstract
• Information technology (IT) has radically changed the way that many people work and think
• This audit was designed to evaluate the IT skills and training needs of different professional groups
• Most clerical staff but only about 33% of medical and nursing staff were able to use the current patient information system
• 72% of the staff were interested in further training in information technology skills
• The local college agreed to come to the hospital to run the CLAIT (Computer Literacy and Information Technology) course on our premises
