Abstract
Critical thinking (CT) is considered one of the most important soft skills for student training and development, especially in an academic context in which students are immersed in a process of technologizing their teaching-learning process, are exposed to a large amount of information and are also great users of social media. The main objective of this study is to rigorously assess how new media literacy (NML) can influence the ability and willingness of students to think critically, and how CT and NML influence students’ perceptions of performance. Contrary to what is found in most of the literature, NML appears as a relevant antecedent to develop students’ skills and dispositions to think critically. These findings raise the need to deepen the study of the relationship between NML and CT.
