The Authors give a description of a protrusio socket technique, applied since 1987 as a routine method for arthroplasty in CDH. This method gives good bony coverage of the acetabular component, with achievement of good stability, and acetabular roof grafting is becoming unnecessary. This method has been performed in 90 cases, 42 of which have a minimum follow-up of 2 years. The latter have been reviewed, the results being excellent.
