A greater understanding of Asia has been identified as an important component in the future development of the Australian economy. This paper details the features of a national curriculum model developed for the teaching of Asian languages and culture in college and industry-based hospitality training programs.
A functional and situational approach to the study of language and culture is adopted within the models modular structure and in the teaching and learning resources developed for each occupationally oriented module.
