Abstract
Because of the tremendous current increase in aircraft loads and movements, airport authorities need to classify and check continuously the structural condition of their pavement to avoid both overstressing and underutilizing it. This article presents and analyzes a simple procedure for classifying airport pavements in terms of the Aircraft Classification Number–Pavement Classification Number method of the International Civil Aviation Organization. The proposed methodology can help airport managers, airline operators, and aircraft manufacturing companies to reduce the operational cost of flights and the maintenance cost of pavements.
