Abstract
Frequently today, providers of patient care at many different service levels are asked to work together on health care system problems. An answer to conflicts in this joint decision making may be found in the concept of collaborative leadership, a theory school that recognizes that other options exist for peer-to-peer associations in individual and organizational leadership roles. This article focuses on the concept of collaborative leadership, opening with a discussion of its basis in the theories of organization, management, leadership, and collaboration. The Involution RevolutionTM model will be used to explain how these relationships move from decisionmaking isolation through phases of inspiration, perspiration, and expectation to collaboration.
