Abstract
The article highlights that, until 2008, Nevada had one of the fastest growing populations in the nation and that, in fact, Hispanics comprise at least one quarter of the total number of residents living there. Despite the fact that Hispanics will be one of the largest minorities not only in Nevada but also in the United States by 2050, few Hispanics enter the nursing profession. To better understand this phenomenon, this article identifies barriers, which may present challenges for Hispanics to become nurses. It is hoped that from this increased awareness, strategies can be developed to overcome this disparity in the nursing profession.
