Abstract
The presence of untreated depression as a comorbidity in a home care patient is costly and clinically challenging. Depression is treatable and routinely seen in home care patients. Screening for depression in home care and referring positive screens for a full diagnostic interview can provide necessary treatment and improve outcomes. This approach suggests standardizing the questions for two Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) items as a screen for depression in home care.
