Abstract
Black female MSNBC anchor Tiffany Cross’ show, The Cross Connection, was canceled abruptly on November 4, 2022. As a result, #WheresTiffany started trending on Twitter, now called X, on November 5, 2022. The purpose of the study is to examine the racial reckoning of Black female anchors during “post-racial” U.S. politics. Using critical discourse analysis, we analyzed the Twitter discourse of the #WheresTiffany hashtag and found the following discourses: The Cronkite Effect, Racialized Objectivity, and Misogynoir. The reaction to Cross’ cancellation brings to the forefront the continued problems Black female journalists face in electronic news spaces.
