Analysis and design of vibratory systems sometimes require assigning poles and zeros of a fre quency response function. Pole assignment is usually needed to avoid harmonic excitation near resonance frequencies. Assigning some zeros appropriately may eliminate, or absorb, particular components of the vibration response. This article presents a pole-zero assignment problem and its motivation. A method that assigns the poles and zeros of a certain frequency response function is given. This is achieved by determining both the position and control function of the state feedback control.
