Abstract
The aim of this paper is to improve the prediction of the average and maximum displacement response of frequency-sensitive viscoelastic (VE)-damped structures subjected to along-wind. By evaluating the equivalent stiffness of frequency-sensitive VE-damped structures subjected to along-wind, a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) equivalent frequency model is constructed. Moreover, the power spectral density (PSD) prediction method for along-wind responses based on an SDOF model of the equivalent frequency has been verified. The results indicate that the improved prediction in PSD of the average and maximum along-wind displacement response of the equivalent frequency model has good agreement with the fractional derivative (FD) model of the VE-damped structure within 10% error. This prediction method can improve the wind-resistant design of high-rise buildings, considering its frequency dependency.
