The views of the scientific community on integrity in research are not well understood. A recent
survey provided some new insights into these views and the personal experiences of a sample of
U.S. scientists with the issue of misconduct and fraud in science. It also suggests some of the
difficulties and limitations in interpreting and communicating information on this subject.
