Abstract
Achieving truly inclusive and accessible design requires more than isolated efforts; it demands cross-functional collaboration across an organization. At Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), our research team launched the Inclusion and Empathy Series to drive this engagement, fostering dialogue across roles such as design, engineering, product management, and leadership. Since 2022, this quarterly educational series has provided structured opportunities for employees to explore topics including inclusive meeting practices, ethics in AI, and the impact of socio-cultural identity on product development. Each event includes a live expert panel or presentation, followed by an open, unrecorded discussion to promote psychological safety and meaningful dialogue. By applying human factors principles that address cognitive, social, and organizational dimensions, we have seen steady participation and growing awareness of inclusive design best practices. This initiative demonstrates how intentional conversation formats and human-centered frameworks can bridge knowledge gaps, strengthen collaboration, and embed inclusivity into organizational culture. We will share lessons learned, strategies for success, and future opportunities to expand this model. For the HFES community, this approach offers a scalable and adaptable strategy to promote inclusive, ethical design practices across industries and academia.
