Abstract
Raoul Naroll was concerned with methodological problems of cross-cultural research—preeminently data quality control and Galton's Problem. After briefly reviewing Naroll's approach to data quality control, this article discusses recommendations for dealing with random and systematic error as taught recently at the Summer Institutes in Comparative Anthropological Research. In connection with those institutes, a computer program, which tests for spatial autocorrelation in the context of multiple regression, has been developed to deal with Galton's Problem. Also discussed are the improvements brought about by the more widespread availability of multivariate statistical techniques.
