Abstract
As AIDS continues to spread, family therapists are increasingly faced with difficult decisions regarding reporting and breach of confidentiality when clients refuse to protectothersfrom infection. Ethical codes of some professional organizations are beginning to address this issue, but most are still ambiguous, and state laws often fail to address the issue directly or may conflict with ethical codes that are often unclear: These complicated issues are discussed, and suggestions are made for making decisions.
