Abstract
One-way ANO VAs for each gender were conducted with low and high bulimic-type behaviors for 318 female and 192 male undergraduate university students. Scores on two scales from the Personal Authority in the Family System Questionnaire (PAFS-Q) and one scale from the Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (EDI-2) were analyzed. Results indicated significanceforfemales (p <.0001) who reported bulimic-type behaviors with fusion in their family of origin and lack ofpersonal authority. In addition, significance with males who reported bulimic-type behaviors and fusion in their families-of-origin were found (p < .0164). Implications for therapy and future research are discussed.
