Abstract
This study evaluated the effectiveness of a game-based learning intervention, “Rolling the Dice,” in teaching counseling students (N = 50) the protective factors of monogamy theory (PFMT) and circular questioning techniques. Using a pre-post design, results showed significant improvement in overall understanding (p = .003, d = 0.444), with participants achieving mastery in monogamy maintenance concepts and behavioral boundaries. However, decreased performance in relationship boundaries suggests areas for refinement. Findings support the integration of game-based learning in counselor education while identifying specific content areas requiring additional instructional support. Implications for counselor educators and practicing clinicians are discussed.
