Abstract
This article examines the difficulties couples’s counselors encounter when counseling clients in crises who are coping with two personality disorders: narcissistic personality disorder and borderline personality disorder. Each partner’s complex conflicting problems are intertwined into the relationship creating an increased level of emotional instability leading to crisis situations. A case example is presented with a couple in crisis and implications for counselors in training while working with this couple at a university training clinic.
