In the Summer of 2023, the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors launched their first conference in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The conference theme was “Reexamining the Bonds Between Us.” The authors had the opportunity to interview Dr. Nguyen who was presenting. During the interview, Dr. Nguyen shares his expertise on the history of Vietnam, stigmas of mental health, implications for people diagnosed with a mental health disorder, common presenting problems for individuals, couples, and families, and best practices for working with clients in Vietnam.
