This article looks at current literature that emphasizes the importance of involving children in the therapeutic process. It reviews several approaches to including children through the use of play in family therapy. The emphasis is on the need to understand how children express themselves differently from adults and how family therapists can best engage children as significant family members in the therapeutic process.
