Abstract
Shifting from individually owned to shared products and services decreases resource consumption and fosters the development of stronger social relations. As such shared artefacts are an increasing area of focus for organizations interested in sustainability-oriented strategies. Yet, practitioners lack guidance when it comes to designing shared products and services. To address this issue, we have developed a set of design principles (or ‘shareability principles’) namely: Cooperativity, Decontamination, Governance, Maintenance, Psychological appropriation, Risk mitigation, Support, Value.
