Abstract
The purpose of this commentary piece is to advance the scholarly discourse on Asmuß and Thomsen’s original research on how relational practices in social partnerships could create a workplace inclusion opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities. The main contribution of this study is the shift in focus from an institutional, hierarchical view of inclusion towards a relational approach that focuses on building communicative interactions at the micro level among different stakeholders. This commentary is, therefore, generally enthusiastic; it reflects on the focal article, discuss their broader implications for the field, and suggests complimentary theoretical lens to further strengthening the discourse on fostering inclusive practices in diverse environments.
