Abstract
Social networks have been recognized as a fertile learning environment, particularly in encouraging the exchange of knowledge. Students primarily use online communities and groups to read, exchange textbooks, make joint decisions, or share learning materials. Present work assesses the relationship between informal digital learning and formal education settings, with social media interventions. Applications of popular social media platforms have been explored in both formal and informal learning environments. Integration of social media platforms as a learning tool has been theorized by reviewing the contribution of social media and highlighting their specific outcomes.
